Origin Story
It started simply — a guitar on display at The Pottery in Walmer, and an old friend who asked to play it.
About five years ago, Juan Muller walked into Aidan Berry's shop, picked up that guitar, and the two sat outside and jammed. What began as a spontaneous session between strangers became a standing Monday evening ritual after work. Aidan, reignited by a love for music he'd almost forgotten, invested in new equipment and dared to dream bigger.
One by one, the right people found their way in. Emmanuel Hendricks, Jason King, Louis Smit, Robin Ah Quat, Casy Bliss Aka The Pavement Preacher, and Dee Nyanhi each joined the journey — and The Frequency Thieves were born.

Straight out of Gqeberha, South Africa, The Frequency Thieves are an explosive 8-piece band blending raw passion, electrifying energy, and pure musical chemistry into one unforgettable sound. Built on friendship, ambition, and years of roots in the local music scene, the band represents the heartbeat of Port Elizabeth's underground music culture.

The Crew
Aidan Berry — Lead Guitar & Vocals (Founder)
The visionary behind the movement and the man the crew proudly calls "the boss." Aidan dreamed of playing in a band since childhood, and through sheer determination and belief in his craft, he willed it into existence. He drives the soul and creative direction of The Frequency Thieves with fearless energy.
Emmanuel Hendricks — Bass Guitar
The anchor of the low end and one of the most seasoned musicians in the group. Emmanuel brings years of industry experience — including a previous stint playing alongside Aidan — delivering the groove, depth, and professionalism that holds the entire band together.
Juan Muller — Rhythm Guitar "The Ether Engineer"
The man whose knock on a door started it all. Juan is the band's problem solver, checklist keeper, and one of its most enthusiastic personalities. Equal parts reliable and electric on stage.
Jason King — Drums
A respected veteran and true OG of the Gqeberha music scene. Jason brings decades of power, timing, and experience behind the kit — the kind of drummer who makes everything around him feel locked in.
Louis Jordaan Smit"Frikkie" — Lead Vocals(Main Frontman)
Front and center, Louis commands every stage he steps onto. With natural charisma, an inviting presence, and a voice that can be described as nothing short of angelic, he is the face and voice of The Frequency Thieves.
Robin Ah Quat — DJ & Record Scratcher/Lyricist "Robeazy / Yellow Light "
Robin exists in a category of his own. As the band's DJ and turntablist, he brings a dimension no other band in the scene can replicate — injecting raw, unpredictable energy into every single performance.
Casy Bliss Aka The Pavement Preacher — Synths "The Payvment Preacher"
The architect of atmosphere. Riaan layers electric textures and cinematic sounds beneath the band's music, adding depth and dimension that elevates every song into something larger than itself.
DD Houdini — Backup Vocals & Rap "DD Houdini"
The youngest member and one of its most exciting. DD brings hunger, youthful creativity, and a dual threat as both vocalist and rapper alongside Robeazy — representing the next wave of what this band can become.
The Mission
The Frequency Thieves are not chasing trends. They are building something real — rooted in the streets of Gqeberha, fuelled by genuine connection, and driven by the belief that music made with heart will always find its audience.
